Dropbox Team up with Google to Add Support for Google Docs, Sheets, Slides

Dropbox collaborates with Google, offering access to the cloud storage platform for G Suite users. The new step comes a week after the San Francisco company filed an initial public offering (IPO) to collect approximately $500 million (approximately $3,240). The company in 2014 contacted Microsoft to offer Dropbox access from Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Thanks to the new strategic partnership, G Suite users will be able to create, open and edit their Google Docs files, Tables and slides directly from Dropbox. Users who already use Dropbox will also be able to open and edit compatible files directly in Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides. In addition, the Dropbox team plans to implement the integrated integration of G Suite with Gmail and Hangouts chat to extend the latest connection.

There are events for creating a new Dropbox for Gmail Add-On, which will allow users to select and generate links to Dropbox files from Gmail. This will go beyond a simple link generation option and allow users to choose which metadata in the Dropbox content they would like to see in Gmail, including the created date, the last saved and last access. Similarly, the integration of Dropbox in Google Hangouts will allow users to search, share and view their Dropbox files directly from the Hangouts chat.

The Dropbox and Google Cloud teams work together to enable the new integration of Gmail and Hangouts in the second half of 2018.

“We want our users to be able to work with devices that they like,” said Tony Lee, vice president of technology at Dropbox, on the blog. “This partnership with Google Cloud is another way to create a single home for content and conversations around it. We are happy to work with Google to break bunkers and centralize information teams, relying on every day. ”
